Both write Pine Script from plain words. TradingView AI Copilot works inside your TradingView charts, on every market they carry. Alpha Charts tests each strategy with trading costs and a held-out check by default, on US stocks, ETFs and NQ and ES futures, with no TradingView plan needed. Here is how to choose.
TradingView AI Copilot's column is what tradingview.com says, checked on 20 October 2026.
| ALPHA CHARTS | TRADINGVIEW AI COPILOT | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An AI Pine Script assistant and strategy tester on its own site | An AI assistant in the side panel of TradingView's charts, built in since 28 September 2026 |
| Writes Pine Script | Pine v6 from plain words, read by our audit before you see it | Indicators and strategies from plain words, checked for errors and applied to your chart |
| Runs the backtest | Our Strategy Tester runs the script itself on our data | TradingView's Strategy Tester, on your chart; the Copilot reads and explains the report |
| Trading costs in a backtest | 0.05% commission and 0.025% slippage per side on every run, by default | What the script or its Properties set; Pine's defaults are no commission and no slippage |
| Held-out check | Every run split into in-sample and out-of-sample, with a verdict | Not described in its help pages; a strategy report covers the one testing period you choose |
| Optimising | Up to four inputs, every combination; the winner checked against random tries and its neighbours, and a walk-forward when you turn it on | Tries parameter combinations for a strategy and reports which performed best |
| Markets | US stocks and ETFs, plus NQ, MNQ, ES and MES futures for signed-in accounts, for backtests | The markets on TradingView's charts; its screening covers stocks, ETFs, crypto, forex and bonds |
| Beyond Pine | AI chart analysis, a market scan and a screener on one desk | Chart setup, drawings, technical and fundamental analysis, news, alerts, watchlists and screening |

| Usage | Pro: 500 AI credits a day; Max: unlimited | A monthly limit, the same on every plan, shown as a percentage; no top-ups yet |
| Price | $49.99, $99.99 or $129.99 a month, 30 days money back | A monthly add-on on top of the plan, priced at TradingView's checkout |
| Where it runs | In the browser | TradingView on the web and the desktop app; not in the mobile apps yet |
The Strategy Tester runs the Pine script itself on real data, not a rewrite of it. Orders fill at the next bar's open, the script never sees future data, and every fill pays 5 bps commission and 2.5 bps slippage per side by default.
Each run is split into an in-sample and an out-of-sample period, stated as dates. The held-out part gets a verdict: survived, decayed, did not survive, or too few trades to judge. Drawdown analytics and the full list of trades come with every run.
The optimiser fits a script's inputs on the past, judges them on data it never saw, and compares the winner against the best of the same number of random tries.
The data and its adjustments, the universe and its survivorship bias, the fill rules and the verdict's thresholds are written out in Data and methodology.
An AI assistant built into TradingView's charts, sold since 28 September 2026 as a monthly add-on to the paid plans. It sets up charts, draws on them, analyses symbols, manages alerts and watchlists, screens markets, and writes, checks and applies Pine Script.
For writing and testing Pine strategies on US stocks, ETFs and NQ and ES futures, yes: every run charges trading costs and judges a held-out period by default, and you need no TradingView plan. For an assistant inside your TradingView charts across every market they carry, AI Copilot fits better.
It works through TradingView's Strategy Tester, which charges what the script or its Properties set. Pine's defaults are no commission and no slippage, so check the strategy() declaration before you trust a result.
Yes. Its help page says it can try parameter combinations and report which performed best. It does not describe judging the winner on a later period, so do that yourself or use a tester that holds one out.
For AI Copilot, yes: a paid TradingView plan plus the add-on. Alpha Charts needs no TradingView plan; you paste its scripts into TradingView only if you want them there.
Alpha Charts plans are $49.99, $99.99 and $129.99 a month, with the copilot on Pro and Max and 30 days money back. AI Copilot is a monthly add-on on top of a paid TradingView plan, and TradingView shows its price at checkout.
