Alpha Charts vs Deepwick

Deepwick is a browser platform for crypto and CFDs that runs a subset of Pine on its own engine, with AI on your own API key, alerts, webhooks and a free plan. Alpha Charts runs the full Pine v6 script on US stocks and ETFs, charges costs and checks every run on held-out data by default, with the AI included. Here is how to choose.

Choose Alpha Charts if

  • you trade US stocks and ETFs and want daily history back to 2016
  • you want the script run as written in Pine v6, not a subset
  • you want trading costs and a held-out verdict on every run without setting them up
  • you want the AI included, with no API key of your own to bring

Choose Deepwick if

  • you trade crypto or CFDs on forex, metals, energy or indices
  • you want alerts and webhooks to your own endpoint, PineConnector or 3Commas
  • you want a free plan with no time limit, or a $5 plan
  • you want the AI to run on your own key from Anthropic, OpenAI or others

Check further first if

  • your script uses functions outside Deepwick Script's subset: unsupported lines are flagged, not run
  • you need history: most CFDs start in September 2026, and the free plan caps a backtest at 5,000 bars
  • you need futures: Deepwick lists them as next on its roadmap

How Alpha Charts tests a strategy

The Strategy Tester runs the Pine script itself on real data, not a rewrite of it. Orders fill at the next bar's open, the script never sees future data, and every fill pays 5 bps commission and 2.5 bps slippage per side by default.

Each run is split into an in-sample and an out-of-sample period, stated as dates. The held-out part gets a verdict: survived, decayed, did not survive, or too few trades to judge. Drawdown analytics and the full list of trades come with every run.

The optimiser fits a script's inputs on the past, judges them on data it never saw, and compares the winner against the best of the same number of random tries.

The data and its adjustments, the universe and its survivorship bias, the fill rules and the verdict's thresholds are written out in Data and methodology.

What Alpha Charts does not do

  • Backtest anything but US stocks and ETFs, plus NQ, MNQ, ES and MES futures for signed-in accounts: no index values, crypto, forex, other futures or options.
  • Show live volume from every exchange: live prices come from IEX, so the newest 15 minutes carry IEX's volume alone. Daily history starts in 2016.
  • Connect to a broker or trade live.
  • Show independent reviews or published benchmarks yet: it is a new product (2026).
  • Give investment advice: these are research and education tools.

Questions

Is Alpha Charts a Deepwick alternative?

For traders of US stocks and ETFs who want the whole Pine v6 script run as written, with costs and a held-out verdict by default and the AI included, yes. Deepwick fits crypto and CFD traders who want alerts, webhooks and a very low price.

Does Deepwick run my TradingView Pine script?

It runs the part of Pine that Deepwick Script covers, over 300 functions and variables, and flags the lines it does not support. Alpha Charts runs the Pine v6 script itself on its own runtime, so a script can occasionally behave differently than on TradingView.

Which one charges trading costs?

Both can. Alpha Charts charges 5 bps commission and 2.5 bps slippage per side on every run by default. Deepwick charges half the live spread on saved backtests, plus whatever slippage and commission the strategy() sets.

Do I need my own AI key?

On Deepwick, yes: its AI runs on your key from Anthropic, OpenAI, MiniMax, OpenRouter or Groq, and your provider bills you. On Alpha Charts the AI is part of the plan.

Which is better for crypto?

Deepwick. Alpha Charts backtests US stocks and ETFs, plus NQ, MNQ, ES and MES futures for signed-in accounts.

How much does each cost?

Alpha Charts plans start at $49.99 a month, with 30 days money back, and a free account backtests without limit. Deepwick has a free plan, Pro at US$5 a month ($48 a year at its founding price) and Elite at US$49 a month.
